29LT BUKRA: A Versatile Multilingual Type System
29LT Bukra is a contemporary geometric typeface drawn with extreme refinement and sleek mono-linear structure that unveils a futuristic and clean impression. This font lives up to its name as Bukra means “tomorrow”. The type family brings both Arabic and Latin scripts together while optimizing legibility and ease of usability characteristics. The Arabic letterforms were designed based on the Kufic structure with large open proportions and short ascenders and descenders that were cut to a minimum length. The Latin character set on the other hand was designed based on sans-serif structures with a large main body height, along with minimalistic and original design aspects.
This type system is made up of 94 styles, 47 standard styles and 47 slanted styles ranging from Hairline to Black in Condensed, Semi Condensed, Normal, Semi Wide and Wide. The condensed styles are narrow and tall while the wide styles are round and heavy. The Arabic Slanted is based on the eastern Kufic style complementing the Arabic Normal which is based on the modern geometric Kufic style. The light weights of the type family convey elegance and finesse, while the heavy weights denote strength and seriousness.
